EXTON OpSuS is an open source and completely free project that provides users with a distribution of GNU/Linux based on the openSUSE operating system. It is built around the KDE Plasma desktop environment.
Distributed as an archived IMG file for 64-bit hardware platforms
This special project created by Arne Exton is distributed as an archived IMG file that must be downloaded, extracted and written on a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.
It has been engineered to support only modern computers supporting the 64-bit CPU architecture. Of course, this means that it won't boot on 32-bit computers, though 32-bit applications are supported.
Boot options
EXTON OpSuS features a standard boot loader that allows users to start the live environment with default settings or in safe graphics mode, using the failsafe option. No other options are available on the boot prompt. It is very important to know that there are two users on the system, root and live. The password for each account is the same as the username, root and live.
Built around the KDE desktop environment
If you are a fan of the KDE desktop environment, you should know that EXTON OpSuS is built around the latest stable KDE 4.14.4 desktop environment, providing users with a pure, untouched and beautified interface that features amazing wallpapers and a great selection of open source applications (see the next section for details).
Default applications
Default applications include the VLC Media Player, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, GIMP image editor, LibreOffice office suite, Samba client, FileZilla file transfer client, NetworkManager network connection manager, and GParted partition editor.
