Getting Started

First Steps

First, you need to sign up for an Amazon AWS account, and apply for SES access. This is wholly the responsibility of Amazon, and The Escapers are not involved in this process.

Amazon AWS website

Once you have signed up with Amazon AWS, you will have an Access Key and a Secret Key. You will need both of these codes to use Whoosh. Click the "Authentication..." button on the toolbar, and enter the codes in the sheet which appears.

Once you have signed up with Amazon AWS, you will have an Access Key and a Secret Key. You will need both of these codes to use Whoosh. Click the "Authentication..." button on the toolbar, and enter the codes in the sheet which appears.

Whoosh will tell you if you have made a mistake in entering these codes, but you can also ensure everything is working as it should be pressing the "Quota" button on the toolbar, and Whoosh will retrieve your quota information from Amazon.

Once you are able to retrieve your quota details, you are now ready to start sending emails, starting with importing a list of recipients to send emails to.

Create a campaign

Whoosh allows you to create "campaigns", the concept of this being that as a company, you may be running many different email marketing campaigns at a time. Perhaps you will run a campaign targeted at new users, or users whose contracts are about to expiire. Or maybe you need to target all female customers, or all customers living in a certain country. In Whoosh you can create as many campaigns as you need, and the content of your emails etc. are contained within the campaign so that they can be re-used at any time.

Whoosh will create a new Campaign on opening, and you just need to save it somewhere. To do this, click the "Save Campaign" button on the toolbar. You can save it anywhere you like, and it should be called something like "WelcomeNewUsers.whoosh". Once it is saved you can quit Whoosh, reload Whoosh, then load the Campaign by clicking the "Open Campaign" button on the toolbar, and locate the .whoosh file you had saved out previously.

If you wish to create a new Campaign based on another Campaign, you can simply duplicate the .whoosh file using the Finder, then open the new file, and change what you need to.

Please now see the "Importing" page.
