Using Tracks
Movie clips and images are organized into tracks in the timeline. Each track has it's own layer. The tracks are composited together for the final image so that tracks below are seen through transparent parts of tracks above. This is used to create green screening effects, floating text, picture in picture effects etc.
Add a track by dragging a movie or photo into top of the timeline. The other tracks move to make room for the new one. Alternatively you can drag the clip to the movie canvas which will also create a new track.
Delete a track by selecting it by clicking on it and press backspace or select Delete from the Edit menu.
Rename a track by double clicking the tiny diagonal track name at the left edge of the track and then type the new name.
Move the track on top or below the other tracks by dragging it vertically in the timeline. Click the empty background of the track, rather than the clips.
