Installation Instructions for iSgd Short URL

iSgd Short URL is a Mac OS X “service”.

What's a service? A service can process or act upon selected text in almost all applications. For example, a Calculator service could calculate a mathematic expression (like 6 * 7) you had selected, and replace the selection with the result (42).

• To install it, simply drag it to your Home → Library → Services folder (first creating that folder if necessary). It will then be available in most applications.
• To use it, choose “iSgd Short URL” from the Services menu in the Application menu (the menu just to the right of the Apple menu, carrying the name of the current application).
• To remove it, take it out of the Home → Library → Services folder, e.g., to the Trash.

Who made iSgd Short URL?

Well that is a great question and I'm glad you asked. iSgd Short URL was made by me, Tom Kellen, but I really did very little.  I was browsing around the web and found a service called "Shorten URL with URLTea" written by Paul Mucur. You can find his web web site here.  I had used the URLTea service in the past, but it no longer seems to be functioning.  All I really did was edit Paul's original script and change it to use the iS.gd service.  Then using Waffle Software's ThisService, I packaged it back up and here it is.  I hope that someone besides me finds it of use.  If you have any questions or would like to contact me, you can do so via my web site at TaoTek Consulting.
